How to choose a domain for your wedding website

A domain is your wedding website's own address, such as anaandpablo.com. You don't need one for the website to work, but it's easier to remember and to type from a paper invitation. Choose something short, with your names, without odd characters, and check it reads well when you say it out loud.

Do you need one?

No. A wedding website works perfectly well on a free address; on Nupzy, for example, yournames.nupzy.com. Your own domain is worth it if you will print the address on the invitation, if you want something shorter or simply because you like it.

A name that's easy to type

  • Your names, in the order you usually say them: anaandpablo, pabloandana.
  • Short: every extra letter is a chance of a typo.
  • No accents or unusual characters, and be careful with hyphens: they are hard to dictate.
  • Say it out loud: if you have to spell it, look for another one.

Which extension

.com is the one people type without thinking. A country extension (.es, .co.uk) works well if most guests are from that country. Other extensions such as .love or .wedding exist too, but they are less familiar and some guests may type .com out of habit.

Connect one or register one

If you already have a domain, you can connect it to the website. If not, you can register it from your Nupzy dashboard: it's paid by the year, and you can cancel the renewal when you no longer need it. Either way, the original address keeps working.
