How to ask your wedding guests to RSVP

To collect RSVPs, give each guest a simple way to reply, a clear deadline and only the questions you'll actually use: whether they're coming, with whom, which menu they'd like and any allergies. Gathering everything in one place, such as a wedding website with a link for each guest, avoids duplicate lists and lost messages.

What to ask (and what not to)

Every extra question is an answer someone won't give. Only ask what your caterer or your planning really needs.

  • Whether they're coming.
  • How many plus-ones, if you've allowed them, and their names.
  • Menu choice, if there are options, and a children's menu.
  • Allergies and intolerances.
  • Transport, if you're laying on a coach.
  • Whether each person is an adult, child or baby, to count covers and high chairs.

One way to reply, not three

If some reply by WhatsApp, others by email and others in person, you'll end up with several lists that don't match. Choose one place and ask everyone to reply there.

A personal link for each guest is the easiest option: whoever opens it doesn't have to type their name or create an account, and can only confirm the plus-ones you've assigned.

Handle allergies with care

Allergies are health data. Ask only for what you need, explain what it's for and share it only with whoever prepares the food. On Nupzy the guest gives consent when entering them, and only you and your admins can see them.

After the deadline

Close the form, contact anyone who hasn't replied and send the caterer the head count by menu and the allergies. With that, you can finish the seating chart.
